Paintwork
Today we started on painting the house – it was another sunny day. Nice to do something constructive with that wall at last! Worked all day on it and got 2/3 done, so we should finsh it tomorrow.
Sophie fed the chickens again in the evening. On her way back the ponies were very interested in the eggs but they didn't get any.

Billy was fighting with the rams so he had to be put separately with Daisy (the nanny-goat) in the polytunnel behind the barn. Blacky (the ram who is on loan to service three ewes) got through a hole in a fence and ended up in with the other rams, so there was another fight. Rams do a lot of headbutting. Billy seemed to come off best in the earlier fight because he has horns, though the rams are a lot bigger.
In the evening Rowan tried doing some spinning with drop spindles. It’s a lot slower than with the wheel, because as you finish a metre or so, you have to stop and wind the wool yourself.
We sat and talked with the owners' son fter dinner. He was telling us that before they put in the dykes, there was a lot of shipbuilding in the nearby villages – one of the largest wooden ships ever built was built across the bay.
