Barn again

Today it was raining most of the day, so we worked inside with one of the staff, tidying the upper barn. It’s a big barn which is mainly used for storage – spare wood, sleighs and the ram all live there. They’re getting all their winter hay (a couple of thousand bales) delivered soon, so they need to make space for it. We threw out the smaller and broken pieces of wood to be used for firewood, and stacked the rest of the wood. The two of us did some of it in the first part of the morning and Rowan and the employee did the bigger bits in the later morning and afternoon, while Sophie cleaned the maple syrup tank.

For Rowan it was a lot like yesterday’s work, only without the view and with 20ft lengths of heavy 4” by 8” timber instead of small logs. In the afternoon the manager came and decided that we should re-make the huge stack of heavy lumber we'd just made a couple of feet to the right. Still, we are getting plenty of exercise.
