Leaving the Island
Yesterday in the morning we "popped" the soap we made on Wednesday (i.e. removed it from the moulds and put it aside to dry). We were both a bit cold. After that we went round and tidied the garden, picking up all the garden furniture and toys and storing them in one of the camping cabins. In the evening we played monopoly with one of the children, and accidentally kept him up until nearly 11(oops). Sophie won. This morning it was clear and frosty. Sophie fed the goats, who seemed to be enjoying the changed weather - they don't mind cold but dislike rain, so they have been inside a lot since we've been here. After a nice warming bowl of porridge for breakfast, we worked in the soap shop packing more soap. It’s quite complicated getting all the orders right with the various combinations of different designs. In the afternoon we did our washing and packed, as we are leaving tomorrow. You might think it would get easier with all the practice we get. It hasn't so far.
One cool thing about the house is that it has “central vac” – there is a giant vacuum cleaner in the basement connected to a vacuum socket in each room so all you need is a hose to plug into it. We are going to have central vac when we build a house.
Tomorrow we begin a week of travelliing: we're going West via Montreal, Niagara Falls, Toronto and Jasper, which involves three nights on trains. We'll blog when we can.
