Sandy beaches

Yesterday we had a day off and borrowed bikes to go to Brackley Beach, part of Prince Edward Island National Park. In the morning it wasn't raining for almost the first time since we’ve been on PEI.

When we got to the beach there was a little complex (toilets, a café and picnic tables) but everything was closed for the season. We walked to the sea, keeping to the boardwalk of course as we crossed the fragile sand dunes (they're held together by marram grass and erosion from human feet is a big problem). There were two other people eccentric enough to go to the beach outside the summer, but they didn't stay long. We couldn't stay long either as we were hungry. We'd brought no food with us because we'd planned to eat out. (Now we know better.) A couple of minutes down the road was Brackley, which we thought from the little map might be a real place with somewhere to eat. But it turned out to be a campsite, also closed for the season, so we headed back. All the cafes and restaurants we passed on the way back were also closed for the season so we pressed on through the rain (which had just started) till we got back.

The pictures show the house (our room is in the cabin in the middle of the picture) and the view from their garden.

As I sit in the office in rainy, dark London I can't help but think you guys have got the right idea!
This sounds like a lyric! Keep blogging and keep it poetic - Phil.
